Sanyang Industry Co. Ltd became the first motorcycle manufacturer in Taiwan in 1961.

After entering a partnership with Honda, they added small cars and motorcycles to their assembly lines. However, as Sanyang's motorcycles began to compete directly with Honda's products on a global scale, their relationship concluded in January 2002.

Later in the year, SYM introduced their range of two-wheeled bikes: the GTS scooter, MIO scooter and two ATV models, the Quadlander off-roader and Track runner leisure.

After much success in motorcycle manufacturing, the company changed its name to Samyang Motors (SYM) in 2015. Today, they continue their production of motorcycles in Vietnam, China and Taiwan, working with brands like Hyundai to craft globally recognisable bikes.

What are the cheapest SYM bikes to insure?

To get cheap SYM insurance, consider a bike with a smaller engine, like the following:

  • SYM Wolf 125

What affects the cost of SYM motorbike insurance?

The cost of SYM bike insurance can vary, depending on several personal and circumstantial factors:

Insurance description

Bike model and year

Premium or scarcely available bikes will likely cost more to insure. Sourcing replacement costs in the event of an accident may be more difficult, so you may need to pay more for your insurance to account for this.

Frequency of use

Riders who use their bikes daily are more likely to be involved in an accident than those who only drive occasionally. You could face higher premiums if you're on the road more often.

Rider age and experience

Younger riders typically have less experience, meaning insurers see them as more of an insurance risk. Older riders who have owned and operated a vehicle for longer may enjoy lower premiums.

Types of coverage

TPO policies are sometimes, but not always, cheaper than comprehensive policies. Riders should try to strike a balance between adequate protection and cost-effectiveness.

Insurance description

Driving history

A history of previous convictions or claims may signal that you're riskier to insure, leading to higher premiums. Keep it safe on the roads and you'll build up a no claims bonus, which is one of the best ways to keep your insurance the cheapest it can be.
